Basketball Australia are on board for National Volunteer Week from 20 to 26 May – an initiative delivered in collaboration with Australian Sports Commission (ASC) and National Volunteers Australia.
Over 3 million sports volunteers contribute to communities around Australia with many at the foundations of basketball clubs and communities across the country.
In acknowledgment of the many contributions of our amazing volunteers - Basketball Australia will be celebrating “3 Cheers for Volunteers” by announcing an outstanding person every day of the week.
"During National Volunteers Week, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the dedicated volunteers who make Basketball in Australia thrive. Your passion, commitment, and hard work are the driving force behind the sports success, and we thank you for your invaluable contributions to our community,” said Neil Gray, Basketball Australia’s Game Development Manager.
In addition, Basketball Australia is excited to introduce our Basketball Hero series, an ongoing initiative calling for nominations from our basketball clubs and communities to recognise the volunteers that selflessly enrich and contribute to our game.
A nominated Basketball Hero will be selected every three months – click here to submit an entry for a Basketball Hero at your club. Remember to include, name, role, club or organisation and details on their contributions.
