On memorable moments

“I have been lucky enough to have worked with some great Coaches and kids along the way,” said Thoonen.

“There is nothing better than seeing the kids love for the game and their improvements during the season.   Seeing some of our teams come into the sport with little experience and the improvement they achieve during the season, to then be able to take out a Championship. It's a real credit to our dedicated coaches and the kid's passion to learn new skills.”

On motivation

“I continue to do what I do in basketball because I believe everyone should have the opportunity to play basketball at all levels,” said Thoonen.

Advice for others

“Just jump in and help wherever you can,” added Thoonen. “Don't be afraid to offer help.  We can never have enough volunteers.”
